Gmail forwarding allows you to automatically send certain emails to another address. This guide will walk you through the two-step process: adding a forwarding address and creating filters to manage which emails are forwarded.
Sign in to your Gmail account
Click on the gear icon in the top right corner and select "See all settings"
Navigate to the "Forwarding and POP/IMAP" tab
Click "Add a forwarding address" (You can find your forwarding address in your profile)
Enter the email address you want to forward your messages to
Gmail will send a verification email to us and we will forward it as is to you. So go to your inbox and confirm forwarding.
In the "Forwarding" section, click on "Create a filter"
Enter the criteria for emails you want to forward (e.g., from specific senders like Substack or Beehiiv) and click "Create filter"
In the next screen, check "Forward it to:" and select your verified forwarding address
You can also choose other actions like marking as read or applying a label
Click "Create filter" to save your new forwarding rule
Once completed, Gmail will automatically forward emails matching your filter criteria to the specified address. You can create multiple filters for different forwarding rules, giving you precise control over your email management.
Utilize filters to fine-tune your email forwarding. This allows you to forward only the most relevant emails, keeping your inbox organized and ensuring you receive only the information you need at your forwarding address.
